UIC
RULES
Make sure that you
read and understand these rules – ignorance is no excuse!
Categories of rules and expected
penalties are listed at the bottom of this page – READ THEM !
These rules are additional to, and to be
read in conjunction with, the rules
as laid down by the Administrators of the Case’s ladder system.
The Administrators of the UIC reserve the
right to modify these
rules from time to time as new situations arise.
Every effort will be made to inform all UIC members of any and all such rule changes.
If you cannot, or if you refuse to, abide
by these rules then the UIC is NOT the place for you and it is strongly
suggested that you move on.
UIC GENERAL RULES
1. PROVISIONAL NAMES (providing they have a minimum of 1200 Yahoo! rating) may now join the UIC. (The reason for this is that Yahoo!, in their infinite wisdom, have deactivated a number of rares which has caused many problems throughout home leagues and Interleagues).
2. Any screen name used must match your yahoo name and your current league
name exactly. (with the following exceptions):
Where Cases doesn't accept the 'dot' IDs you must sign in with an underscore and then change it to the dot via the user editor link on the main page - failure to do so will result in you playing under an incorrect ID and thereby culminating in a disqualification.
If you are unable to do this yourself then ask one of the leadership team to do it for you but it is your responsibility to check that it has been done.
Where Cases doesn't accept overly long names use a shortened version of it to sign up and an admin will change it for you.
Any @sbc.global.net names are permitted to use the first part of the name. (i.e: Judge666@sbc.global.net would be permitted to use Judge666).
If you change your league name, please let a UIC Admin know so that changes can be made to UIC pages (updating new name in player stats, team lists, MVP points, etc..).
Searching and matching new names is a very time consuming exercise that Admins have to undertake every week and one that we would rather do without, so please be considerate.
Screen-names are NOT to be changed in the week leading up to the finals not on the days of the finals.
3. Any screen name used must have at least 20 games played in your home
league with that name and must be active within the week prior to any match.
Any member found to be manipulating their home league statistics in this
instance will be penalized accordingly!
4. GHOST NAMES, deflated names and any otherwise manipulated names will NOT
BE PERMITTED in the UIC.
5. Boosted names are OK - It is of no consequence to players when, if you
win, you don’t win many points and if you lose, you lose a lot.
6. Should a league be a NO SHOW 3 times in any Season (without
a valid and reasonable excuse) then it may result in that league being
removed from UIC.
7. You may change leagues with a verified release up to the halfway point in
any season.
To change leagues you must have the approval from a UIC Admin. Admins will handle all team player transfers.
After the halfway point you may NOT change leagues. Admins may approve changes under exceptional circumstances if all parties agree to the change after the halfway point but not, REPEAT not after week 17 or 5 weeks left to play in any season - whichever is the latest, even if you have a verified release.
Should you change leagues without a clearance then you will be subject to a penalty of 6 UIC matches (ie 6 weeks). So the advice is - DON'T EVEN TRY IT.
8. Each Team Manager is responsible to check if members are qualified to
play.
It is your responsibility to check BOTH your own players and your opposition players for eligibility - if your player is ineligible, either by way of, not being active in the week prior to any match or by using an incorrect league name or by insufficient games on your home league or by having insufficient games in your home league because of stats being reset then if that player actually plays then he/she will be DQ'd.
If you don't check and act upon these things and there is a problem discovered AFTER the game or match then it will be bad luck - the result will stand as is.
(for instance if Team A uses a player that is not eligible and Team B Captain hasn't checked the players of Team A and the Team A player wins their game then there is no comeback from the Team B Captain.)
If you use a player that has not been signed up in UIC then your team will forfeit the entire match and have a 0 - 5 result recorded!
10. Sportsmanship is an expected requirement with UIC.
Remember to use common sense.
11. Foul language or disrespect of staff and fellow members is not accepted
at any time in either the lobby or the game tables.
12. Deliberately causing trouble in the lobby will not be tolerated and
will be subject to a 6 week boxing.
13. Any dispute or other issue that you may have against another member, or
staff member, must be taken to a private table and NEVER aired in the lobby.
14.
ADMINS WILL REPORT ALL PLAYER LOSSES –
Losses will be taken from the usual Captain’s report in the forum - it is
NOT necessary for ANY player to report their losses. Any questions, please
contact an Admin.
15. Any form of cheating is unacceptable. This includes, the proven use of
aiming assistance programs, leaving on the 8 ball, bringing up the cancel
box and FF if your opponent gets booted. Other forms of cheating will be
looked at on an individual basis.
16. You are only allowed ONE account with the UIC. If more then one account
is detected it may result in ALL accounts being deleted and that includes
all match histories. Additionally your Team may possibly forfeit all points
gained up to an including the time of the offence.
17. It is your responsibility to make sure you have a valid Email address;
if not then you wont receive any newsletter information we send out and that
could possibly work against you. If one is found to be invalid it may result
in your name being removed from the UIC. Updating this can be done under
User Editor on the main page.
18. Those with a screen name deemed unsuitable will be asked to change it.
Failure to comply with a reasonable request to change will result in a ban.
19. No member is to ever bring the name of the UIC into disrepute; either in
the lobby of any room by spamming or in any other way.
20. Admins are the sole arbiters in any ‘on the spot’ decisions at any given
match and all players must respect their judgment.
21. The playing schedule is to be strictly adhered to. There will be
absolutely no changes or rescheduling made at any time (unless approved by UIC Head Admin/Co-Head Admins and even then with an absolutely exceptional
reason).
22. Any rematches that we may come across MUST be played within 48 hours, if
it is not, score will remain as is. Unless prior arrangements have been made
with the UIC Admins.
23. Any complaints about any rule violations, admins, or opposing
teams are to be substantiated with a screenshot and forwarded to the UIC
Administrators.
24. SAFETY SHOTS should not be looked down on. They are as legal as a bank
shot, and when players become upset that they have been "safetied", they
should be reminded that this is part of the game. Players who use safety
shots should not be discouraged or verbally battered by their opponents, the
player should not be called dirty, cheap, cheater, or anything else.
Safeties are legal and the admin/captain's should remind everyone of this when
the topic arises.
25. LEAGUE VACANCY (League withdraws or is DQ’d from the UIC)
a) Any league that this applies to will be ineligible for readmission
to UIC until the completion of the following season, at which time if the
league wishes to rejoin, then they are to make formal submission to the UIC
Admin Team.
b) The first league that applies to fill the vacancy or the league
that is in top position on the UIC waiting list shall fill the vacancy that
this scenario creates.
c) Up until the halfway point in any season the incoming league shall
assume the ladder position of the outgoing league and also take on all
points accrued by the outgoing league.
d) After the halfway point the incoming league will assume the bottom
position on the ladder and must build their own points totals from that
point onwards.
26. Any league wanting to participate in UIC must be able to provide their
team, team manager *deputy manager as well if possible*,
27. UIC will enter lockdown mode after the last match in the regular season.
So Managers are to ensure they have all players signed up before this time
if they want them to play.
28. Camtasia is NOT a requirement for UIC Diamond/Emerald Divisions or for UIC Diamond/Emerald Division finals. However, if both players agree to it then it may be used.
29. Players will earn game credits and their team will earn a credit win whenever any of the following occurs:
a) A team is ready to play at the tables and the opposition team or part of that team is a 'no show'.
b) An opposition team has an incomplete line-up (ie 2 players) and cannot or would not have won the match.
c) A team has an enforced bye due to the team that they would have otherwise have played being disqualified or withdraws from UIC.
These will be shown on Player's Stats page with a C.
30. On completion of any match the Captains or Deputy Captains of ALL teams
MUST post the result in the UIC Forum along with their vote for the
opposition MVP in that match.
This includes posting their line-up for a
bye or a no show.
Every captain, winner and loser,
is to post in the UIC forum and include the vote for the opposition MVP - no
vote then your own player will not be credited with a vote.
If you are unsure how to do this see how to here >> http://uic5.sitesled.com/uicreportingstandard.htm
If you don't post the results of the match you will receive NO points or credits - DON'T MAKE US CHASE YOU!
31. FINALS SERIES – Player Eligibility: Any player intending to participate in the UIC Finals Series must have a minimum of required UIC games played in UIC (this may be altered at the discretion of the leadership team). Any game credits accrued will be applied.
32. There is no requirement for home league activity prior to finals matches as players are already qualified.
UIC GAME SPECIFIC RULES
1. All tables are to be "rated" and "protected" unless otherwise stated
beforehand.
2. The cue ball must be moved prior to the break and if you sink the 8 ball
on a break you are required to rerack.
3. If yahoo gives a “ball in hand” after sinking 2 balls of different types
off the break then the next shot is to be taken where it lies. If you fail
to play the ball where it lies you are required to rerack. This is an
obvious Yahoo glitch as neither player has committed a foul shot and
therefore BIH should NOT be taken.
a) If after sinking 2 or more balls on the break and scratching as well it is more than likely yahoo will freeze the game - rerack.
4. We have a "GG" rule in UIC. It is a requirement it be said only AFTER the
8 ball has dropped. It is in your best interest, no matter the outcome of
your game, to show good sportsmanship.
5. Attempting to intimidate an opponent with “jinxing” or “taunting” is not
permitted.
6. Gamesmanship and sledging ARE allowed but if asked to stop then you are
to do so immediately.
7. No Forced Forfeits "FF" under any circumstances. This includes, quitting
and forfeiting on yourself before a game has ended.
8. Glitches by yahoo are a fact of life in yahoo pool, learn to live with
them; excessive complaining about them will get you both disrespect and a
penalty.
9. In fairness to all, any reracks must go to a best of 3 unless otherwise
agreed to by the opposing players or team managers. Only the winner has the
right to offer a rerack, losers shouldn't whine about wanting one - they
won't get one anyway.
10. No reracks will be permitted if there has been a total of 3 balls sunk in the game.
11. Any disputes will be settled by the admin on duty or referee that is
conducting the match and any decision made is final. Failure to comply with
the instruction of the Admin on duty in any dispute will result in the
disqualification of the offender. When UIC is operating without Referees
then the disputes will be handled by an admin on duty.
12. All first game timers shall be of 7 minutes duration, any subsequent
game shall be 5 minutes, excepting finals series where they shall be of 10
minutes.
13. If Yahoo boots a player from a table while they are actually playing in a game there is every chance that Yahoo will give the opponent a win on forfeit - We, in UIC, will not have that affect the game or match and it is to be replayed !!!! Having said that, if a player that looks like they are going to be defeated and suddenly forfeits, then we will go with that as an intentional force forfeit and a penalty will be given.
14. Coaching IS permitted in UIC.
15. Accusations, veiled comments or even joking about AA will first be largely ignored.
Do it once or even twice then it doesn't matter.
It's not UIC's problem if you wish to make an idiot of yourself and earn nothing but disrespect from your peers
However if there is continued harassment about it in the UIC lobby, on tables or in the 'accused' home room (and there will be no warning about this) or on Instant messengers -- Then banishment from UIC awaits any offenders and it is MOST DEFINITELY ENFORCED.
Don't let this happen to you as it only serves to disadvantage your league.

stripping – this will be decided on by a council of all admins of the UIC
and the Team Manager of said team will have an opportunity to defend and
appeal any action taken.
ALL PLAYERS CARDS WILL BE MARKED WITH ANY PENALTIES INCURRED!
